Residents' personal care is carried out by a dedicated team of support workers. We have access to Health Care professionals who look after the residents' health care needs.
Respite Care
Respite care is vital to an increasing number of families. Caring for a profoundly disabled relative 24hrs a day, 7 days a week imposes a tremendous strain on even the most capable family. Parents often struggle to cope with inadequate support and this has a detrimental effect on all the relationships within the family and can lead to family break up. Just one or two nights a month is sometimes all a family needs to enable them to carry on.
Bevern View has three beds dedicated for respite use. During the respite residents time with us we are able to offer them a full activity programme based round their preferences.
Applying for a place
Bevern View is a home for young adults with profound learning disabilities. The home is small and places don’t come up very often. We do not operate a waiting list for a permanent place here, but we are happy to hold details of anyone who has declared an interest in living here. When a place comes up it is allocated to the person who best meets the criteria. The decision is weighted in this order:
The person should have a profound disabilityPreference given to people living locallyHome circumstances
Respite enquiries are dealt with in a similar way.
